Kellebram Haven

Before I continue with this review, I am legally obligated by Meldacio Headquarters to remind all Hunters reading these articles that they are forbidden from entering Malmalam Thicket. Those who have a problem with this statement are free to complain to their immediate superiors about this rule, for it is one that was put into place long before I ever ventured within to do a review on Kellebram Haven.

With that said, for all other readers, let us continue.

Of course, while I may say that, I should say that it is not only Hunters who should not venture within the Malmalam Thicket. Beautiful and stunning as its lush greenery may be, the Thicket is nonetheless an incredibly dangerous place to venture. Mandrakes in particular pose a great threat to any who are not prepared for the peculiar beast-like plant to appear from the thick undergrowth and rolling roots which surround the path within. They alone, with their piercing screams, have injured many an individual who found themself so confused and rattled that they could not even recognize friend from foe.

Worse yet, mandrakes are not alone down there in the Thicket. Far from it. Not only does one risk getting confused from their screams, but they possess a high chance of stumbling across soldier wasps - natural inhabitants to the Thicket long before a human ever peered past the veil of green. Their venom is just as potent as the screams of the mandrakes. Worse yet, they seem fond of working alongside the Shieldshears which populate the river which flows through the Thicket.

It is atop that very river which one will find Kellebram.

A tricky and difficult journey awaits those who decide to make it thus far. Yet if they have already ventured that far, whether as stalwart adventuring tourists who are properly prepared for such a trek or researchers hoping to tap into the mysteries which lay within, I can only say that certainly Kellebram is not only their best bet for a good night's rest but their only bet.

The trip up the hillside merely to arrive at Malmalam's doorstep can often take half a day's journey as it is, considering the likelihood of having to evade or vanquish the massive and ever present spiracorn herds which populate the hillside there. Depending on how well one is prepared or their luck, making it just to that halfway point where Kellebram lies will likely eat up the rest of the afternoon. At that point, it is only foolishness which would make an individual believe that they could make it out of the Thicket and down the hill before nightfall. Telghey, pleasant thought it  may be, is far away. Kellebram is a far more convenient friend, in such circumstances.

On the bright side, mushrooms of all sorts thrive there in Kellebram. Of particular note is the malmashroom, which grows nowhere else. Gather those, along with alstrooms and vesprooms, and you will be able to have a deliciously crisp and soft dish known as a three-mushroom kebab. I recommend this not only for its wonderfully earthy taste but also because it is an extremely practical dish to dine on in a place such as the Thicket. Due to the unique combination of the three mushrooms, something is created which offers a rather potent effect onto the diner. No more will you have to fret over the toxins and screaming so prevalent in Malmalam.

Well. You will likely want earplugs regardless for the screaming.

At any rate, for all future researchers who opt to delve into this place: I wish you nothing more than the best of luck, and that my words may encourage you forward.

fishfearme: WORST place to sleep and there aren't even any fish this far upstream because the freakin MANDRAKES eat them all??????? dude those are PLANTS, those are LEAVES. ★✩✩✩✩

chocobro: so mal-t totes hass this really nice vibe that kinda makes it feel s. separate from the rest of the whole hillside and maybe even the world???????? but also i don't think platns should be allowed 2 look like beasties ★★✩✩✩

womenwantme: Honestly, right as I saw the entrance to the Thicket, I realized right away what drew researchers of all stripes to this place, and that feeling only intensified as I ventured further into it. The reviewer isn't wrong here about the dangers, by the way. You definitely need to get your hand on a rainbow pendant if Malmalam Thicket is on your bucket list. I personally think that once you get rid of their ability to scream you into a state of stupidity, mandrake are easier to take down than you think they are, and it's just all about how soldier wasps can fly that's the real nuisance. But man... Once you've cleared out the local fauna and far too aggressive flora, Malmalmar is something else. If you think you would understand how it feels just because you've walked around in some of the other forests in the area, like over by Nebulawood or even just the trek up the hill into the Thicket, you have another thing coming. I wouldn't say there's nowhere else like it, but there's few places like it, to be sure. Once you step in, you're transported to an entirely different world. Even in a completely sunny day, the trees reaching up overhead feel ass though they're hiding it away from you like nothing else, and the rush of the stream by Kellebram lends a sort of mist that floats up in the air, which only adds to it all. It's honestly exactly what I think I'd want while going camping: complete separation from the rest of the world. I think you'd be foolish to not try at least one night over at Kellebram. ★★★★★
