Mynbrum Haven

As is only befitting of a river which paves the way for numerous and delicious salmon, there are indeed numerous places with which to fish along the River Wennath. There are no truly bad choices, only those which align with one's preferences. Closer to old Lestallum and a morning's journey from the Dainse Haven, there are those who delight in the easy access to a tackle shop and plentiful Wennath salmon. Even further down south sees a good deal of action as well, with the Maidenwaters teaming with all manner of aquatic life.

Mynbrum, and the fishing spot that is but a moment's walk away from it, rounds up this neat little trio of fishing spots. I would even go as far as to say that it bookshelves them all rather neatly with its inclusion. After all, unlike the spot over at the Rachsia Bridge, Mynbrum's fishing spot has no need to worry above catching a stray bluegill or Alstor bass. It takes more after its southern sister, Maidenwater, with its waters positively teaming with trout and the occasional argus salmon. Another thing it takes after Maidenwater for would be how close Mynbrum is to its fishing spot, similar to Telghey. I would daresay that the two share similar distances, even.

That would be where its pleasant similarities end, unfortunately, for Mynbrum is positioned somewhat more perilously. Whereas Telghey is relatively safe so long as you do not venture too close to a certain rocky patch which separates the fishing area from the beach, the area about Mynbrum is host to a good many sahagin. This shouldn't be too surprising, when one thinks about it carefully. Certainly it isn't only humans who enjoy a good trout. What is truly concerning is when a seadevil shows its face from beneath the tumultuous waters.

Combine that with the ever present nuisance of killer bees and particularly dangerous subspecies of gigantoad, and it is best to stick to this particular Haven mainly for fishing. It is certainly the safest route of road to Haven to fishing spot, with no risk of running into creatures which are otherwise warded off by Mynbrum's influence.

However... While I know that many seem averse to the flesh of gigantoads, I will say that they do make for fine and plentiful dining if you can fell one from afar. My recommendation is actually to help mask both texture and flavor (if that is what prevents one from enjoying the meat) by way of utilizing a fine garlic rub and employing the use of aegir root wraps to go around it. Even without the aegir root, quite honestly, they make a fine accompaniment upon which to display the meat, and so should not go ignored. While it is not impossible to still dislike gigantoad steaks when done up in such hot hopper skewers, I personally have enjoyed a decent success rate with them when serving to others.

They are especially a helpful dish to cook when you are caught in a spot of rain, as is so common in the area, and thus must do the majority of your cooking indoors. Gigantoad meat has no strong smell, unlike the fish you will be catching in no short supply, and so will leave the insides of your tent free of any lingering odor.

Of course, on days where the weather is much finer, then you will have a delicious meal to enjoy while allowing yourself to take in the comforting sound of the river flowing just past your feet... so long as you can ignore the bright street lights which unfortunately have no trees to block them.

fishfearme: real talk i'm always going to rank this place pretty highly in my own head because this is one of the places where i ran into the BEST guy ever. i mean i'd already met him once before over in duscae at the neeglyss pond so it was super awesome to meet him again over here. he always has the best advice when it comes to fishing, not to mention he never judges you if you're just starting out or not as knowledgeable as he is. As long as you love fishing too, that's all that matters, and I think that's just the absolute best way to approach fishing ever. I haven't run into him over by Mynbrum again since then but I always think of him a whole bunch there. I'd love to share a campfire with him another time. So honestly for me this is almost like fishing by Telghey, except a million times better because of the memories. ★★★★★

chocobro: bugs r bad icky nasty grosss. ★✩✩✩✩

womenwantme: The really unfortunate thing about this entire stretch of coast along the river is that it's followed by the entire Callatein Road right next to it at all times. There's literally no getting away from it. Even when the trees or rocks manage to hide it out of view for a little stretch, you'll still be able to hear cars going past you if you went exploring during the day. Night? Obviously you got that eyeshore of a parking lamp blaring in your eyes the whole time. I mean it's convenient for when you need a place, so it's doing its job, but still. Not my first choice. May as well just head down the road a bit to the Burbost Souvenir Emporium. The camper down there at least has curtains, and you can do some shopping in the morning. ★✩✩✩✩
