Alkyrie Haven

Going up to Lestallum from anywhere in Duscae can be quite a journey. Despite this, it is a journey with plenty of resting stops whenever you so much as blink. Not only are there a good many rest stops where one may restock their food or supply of curatives, but Havens are in no short supply as well. Duscae is a wide area with much to offer. In contrast, going up from southern Cleigne to reach the very same city is not nearly so plentiful in terms of places where one may rest their head.

If one goes up from the Taelpar rest area to Lestallum, they will be able to rest at one Coernix Station and their choice of three different Havens depending on their own personal priorities. In contrast, using the Coernix Bypass by way of Old Lestallum offers drivers only one resting place in case of emergencies or simply if the sun sets quicker than they thought it would.

Alkyrie Haven is that singular beacon of safety.

Fortunately, thanks to the plains native to the area, it is a trivial matter to spot it from the Bypass. However, its close proximity to the road should not be taken for granted. The entire area surrounding Tollhends Stronghold sees plentiful herds of spiracorns to such numbers that the Hunters regularly must cull them so that they do not get so bold as to start charging at drivers there in broad daylight. Certainly the creatures seem fond of cavorting all about Alkyrie, and the path which leads to it.

That there is indeed a manmade path going from road to Haven is of no concern to them. Rather, should they see you crossing it, they will take great affront to that. May your weapons be quick or, better yet, your feet even quicker.

The dual good and bad news I can bring to travelers who would rather lean back and watch the stars rather than forage is that there is little of note in the surrounding areas. No doubt anything that may have had a chance to bear any sort of harvest was long ago devoured by those enormous horned herds, leaving only short grass and enormous boulders. Thus, one will have to bring their own supplies for a good dinner.

Since you are doing that already, I recommend taking advantage of the area and stocking up on Cleigne wheat, along with some chocobeans and schier tumeric. Mix the chocobeans and tumeric together to make the filling, the use the flour for a lovely little fried delicacy. Despite the heaviness of the beans, they have quite a light sensation to them, which fits the surrounding plains wonderfully. Just take care not to burn yourself when frying them, which is easier to do than you might think.

fishfearme: good news there's this giant boulder thing that blocks MOST of tollhends so it's out of your sight and that eyesore isn't ruining a camping trip. ★★✩✩✩

chocobro: yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy are there bugs here too ★✩✩✩✩

womenwantme: Honestly beggars can't be choosers when it comes to camping on the road. If there's a Haven, then you use the Haven, because you're not always going to be spoiled for choice like over at the Praerie Outpost in Leide. So if you need to use Alkyrie, it's a good a spot as any. I just wouldn't recommend it for real camping. Too close to the road, no real foraging to be done... It's a bit of a letdown. ★★✩✩✩
